Full Circles

I keep closing loops I forgot I even opened

Some [Full Circles] landed on me recently. Almost at the same time. So close that I had to stop and pay attention.

The first one started it when I was talking to Certt, recapping and processing the 12 hour stream we produced for Vic Mensa. Somewhere in that conversation we did the math and realized it was a year to the date since the first Features For Fans livestream we did with him.

When we first met Vic, doing a IRL stream on that scale was the goal. We just met Vic so we had to earn it. We ran shorter streams. Two hours. Three. Five. And built trust one stream at a time. A year later we did a complete twelve hour live stream with full multi-cam production and directing in real time. We literally hit our goal on the same calendar day we started. You can’t write a more full circle moment than that.

The other one is where the full circle theory gets interesting.

I am working with another artist right now. He landed at midnight. I picked him up, we went back to the crib, I made a beat, and he rapped over it. Then I went to work in the morning. I was not tired. I had more energy than I have on days where I slept a full night.

But that’s not the full circle. This is.

I met him when I was eighteen or nineteen, and I recorded his first song. I had honestly forgotten I did that. I have recorded so many songs since then that it slipped. He stopped making music for a while but recently he found a new spark. We still followed each other on IG and he posted some songs that caught my attention, so I hit him up. I told him I wanted to help him put out his next real record through the World’s Friend pilot program. Two four song EPs. Eight songs total. I help him build the first batch. He takes what he learns and builds the second. After that he decides. Run it again, or go on his own with everything he learned.

Some of his earliest influences were Pro Era and Capital STEEZ. Through my own journey, working with Pink Siifu, I met Chuck Strangers, one of the main producers behind that sound. So not only is it a full circle moment for me but I am also able to help other’s actualize their talents and close a chapter on a full circle themself.

I used to look for the singular “I made it” moment. These day it feels like a constant arrival. Where I reach these “checkpoints”, and they compound.

What that asks of you is to be present. To rise to the occasion when an opportunity aligns…because you never know how it shapes the full circle later.
